About the Event

The Blue Dragon Challenge combines the scenically beautiful Blue Tier with the rich history of The Trail of the Tin Dragon. Add the element of a two day mountain bike ride through this amazing area and you have a challenge that will leave you rewarded and left totally fulfilled, knowing you have just experienced some of the best adventure trails in Tasmania.

Stage 1 is a 52km loop starting and finishing in the historic township of Derby. You will journey through the surrounding hills and across open plains with stunning vistas to the North and East coasts, delving deep into the rainforests and along river edges before returning to Derby. You can then relax and enjoy a dip in the river and soak up the charm and history of this once bustling tin mining town.

Stage 2 is a 48km course, starting and finishing in Weldborough. A challenging but rewarding climb will take you to the top of the Blue Tier. This North East alpine area has it all, from big granite boulders to huge myrtle trees and stunning rainforest. Best of all, it involves the infamous Blue Tier decent trail all the way back to the finish.

Riders will be required to team up and ride as a pair for the entire race. This adds the element of team work and co-operation as well as being able to share this unique experience with someone along the way.
